Aldekhel immigrated to the United States from Iraq at age 6. Raised in the Midwest, she earned her bachelor of arts in speech-language pathology and audiology with a minor in education and a minor in Arabic from University of Nebraska. She was inspired to pursue her doctor of audiology after visiting Iraq and seeing the need for speech and hearing services in the community and in her own family. She is looking forward to the opportunities and diversity the San Francisco campus has to offer.
Arhart earned her bachelor of arts in communication sciences and disorders and Hispanic studies from University of Minnesota, Duluth. She was inspired to pursue a career in audiology by her father who has had complete hearing loss in his right ear since childhood. Her family has a proud history of military service and her goal is to become an audiologist for the U.S. Navy. Serving those who serve has been, and will continue to be, her top priority as she strives to be the best clinician she can be.
Avant earned her bachelor of science in speech pathology and audiology from California State University, Sacramento. Avant looks forward to the doctor of audiology program helping her become a well-rounded professional. She is passionate about advocating for audiology and serving those with hearing loss or balance issues. Her goal is to become a pediatric audiologist. She enjoys meeting new people and spending time with her dog, Whiskey Pup.
Baquir earned her bachelor of science in communication sciences and disorders from California State University, Sacramento. She is passionate about giving individuals and their families both receptive and expressive tools to effectively communicate with the world around them. She believes that the key to helping others overcome their limitations is listening with an open heart and an open mind. In her free time she is actively involved in her church and her community.
Deborah Bertoni de Oliveira
Bertoni de Oliveira was born and raised in Brazil by an Italian family. She earned a bachelor of arts in foreign languages and literature, with a concentration in Portuguese, English and French translation, from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie. She earned a bachelor of arts in speech pathology and audiology from Centro Universitário São Camilo. She recently moved to the United States with her family and has been looking forward to starting her journey at Pacific since her first visit in 2016.
Calderon is from Ripon and earned a bachelor of arts in communication sciences and disorders from University of Redlands. Through studying abroad in the Czech Republic for a semester, Calderon found her passion for service. She has worked as a literacy tutor and at a camp for children with serious illnesses. She plans to continue working with individuals in underserved communities as an audiologist.
Carino earned a bachelor of science in communication sciences from California State University, Sacramento. Her career choice was inspired by growing up with family members who were involved in the medical field. From her volunteer work as an elementary school tutor, to her weekend job as a professional princess, she has always loved working with children and hopes to one day serve as a pediatric audiologist.
Cha is from New Jersey and he studied psychology and music at Grove City College in Pennsylvania. His passion for music almost led him to pursue a career in choral conducting and he was accepted to a graduate program at Boston University. The intersection of psychology and music ultimately directed him to the field of audiology. He also enjoyed a brief career as a high school math and test prep tutor. He hopes to continue using one-on-one interactions to help people maximize their hearing potential and enjoy music.
Clemons earned her bachelor of arts in linguistics from University of California, San Diego. Her interest in audiology comes from her mother’s work as a speech-language pathologist. Her appreciation for the importance of having access to high-quality sound was a result of observing the negative impact of sensorineural hearing loss has had on her father’s life. Her goal is to work with pediatric patients and specialize in cochlear implants.
Mejgan Danai Wardak
Wardak is from the Bay Area and earned her bachelor of arts in psychology from University of California, Berkeley. She is a mother of two and enjoys spending time with family. She is excited to be in the doctor of audiology program at Pacific. In her free time, she enjoys baking, swimming and watching movies. She recently traveled to Europe with her family and she looks forward to their next adventure.
Krizelle De Guzman
De Guzman earned her bachelor of science in communication sciences and speech pathology disorders from California State University, Sacramento.An artist and entrepreneur, she has sold her paintings and handmade bookmarks through Etsy. She is also an avid reader.
Espino earned her bachelor of arts in business management. For over two decades, she was a full-time staff member at Pacific. She completed her degree while working at Pacific and caring for her family. Espino attended dental school in the Philippines, however, family members who deal with hearing loss inspired her to explore audiology. Prior to starting the program, she volunteered at the Hearing and Speech Center in San Francisco. She hopes to someday be instrumental in achieving accessible and affordable hearing health care for everyone. In her spare time, she enjoys creating art and cosplay costumes for her son.
Flores earned her bachelor of science in communication sciences and disorders from California State University, Sacramento. She was introduced to the audiology profession through a course in deaf studies. Flores hopes to work in a hospital setting and is interested in the field of cochlear implants. She is excited to be on the San Francisco campus and near the ocean.
Jaynelle May Garcia
Garcia is from Concord. She earned her bachelor of science in biology with a minor in neuroscience from University of San Francisco. Her interest in pursuing audiology began while working at Pacific in the Department of Audiology as the first program administrator. Garcia is excited to be joining the doctor of audiology program as a student. In her free time, she enjoys working out, experimenting with new recipes and spending time with her two dogs.
Gidley-Berg earned her bachelor of arts from Linfield College in Oregon. She has over 14 years of experience as a hearing aid dispenser for a private practice in San Francisco and she has actively participated in training programs to help others interested in achieving licensure. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, traveling and spending time with her husband, Johann.
Kebede grew up in Ukraine and Ethiopia before settling in San Francisco. She earned her bachelor of science in biological sciences with a minor in African American studies from University of California, Davis. Prior to starting the audiology program, she was an audiology clinical services assistant at Pacific’s San Francisco campus. She is thankful to all the audiologists who have mentored her and encouraged her to pursue this career.
Ng earned his bachelor of arts in speech, language and hearing sciences from University of Connecticut. He was born in Oakland but grew up in Puerto Rico. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Cantonese. In his free time he enjoys playing and listening to music, as well as cooking, traveling and exploring the world around him.
Ramirez earned her bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences from University of Oregon, Portland. Her interest in audiology came while studying American Sign Language. She volunteered with Oregon Health and Science University and at several elementary schools. She has worked with children and adults, teaching brain and spinal cord injury prevention. Most recently she worked in an independent skills classroom and discovered she connected with children with disabilities. She enjoys working with people who benefit from a little extra support.
Rangel earned her bachelor of arts in linguistics and Spanish at University of California, Davis. She earned her bachelor of science in communication sciences and disorders from California State University, Sacramento. She pursued a career as a speech-language pathologist assistant and looks forward to continuing her education as a Pacific student. She enjoys online window shopping. She also likes watching baking shows and often attempts to bake what was created on the show.
Riley is from Indiana and she earned her bachelor of science in public affairs from University of Indiana, Bloomington. She became interested in audiology after volunteering at a non-profit clinic in her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and observing individuals whose lives were impacted by hearing loss. She enjoys working with children and is interested in pursuing pediatric audiology. In her free time she enjoys traveling and cooking. She also enjoys going to dog parks. Riley is excited to start a new chapter of her life at University of the Pacific.
A San Francisco native, Sandavol-Lum earned her bachelor of arts in communicative disorders with a minor in special education and her master of science in communicative disorders from University of California, San Francisco. She is the mother of a one-year-old daughter. Her many interests include photography, baking, knitting and cheering for the San Fransisco Giants and Golden State Warriors. She welcomes the opportunity to challenge herself throughout the process of becoming an audiologist.
Tejeda earned her bachelor of science in speech language pathology and audiology from California State University, Sacramento. She is proud to be a first-generation Mexican-American graduate student. In her spare time, she loves to travel and immerse herself in a different culture. Prior to starting the AuD program, she worked as an audiology assistant at San Francisco Audiology. She is looking forward to continuing her work in audiology.
Wolfram was born and raised in Northern California. She earned her bachelor of arts in cognitive science with a concentration in linguistics from University of California, Berkeley. While at UC Berkeley, she was a member of a Division 1 rowing team. She lives in Oakland and enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and two cats.
